Cape Coral, Florida · Inoue-Ha Shito-Ryu Keishin-Kai
"Rooted in tradition, driven by courage."
Authentic Japanese karate for every age and ability. Train in a disciplined, welcoming dojo carrying a direct lineage from the masters of Inoue-Ha Shito-Ryu.
Yūshin Dōjō was founded in 2026 with a clear purpose: to create a traditional martial arts school that honors the roots of Japanese karate while embracing the courage required to grow, adapt, and evolve. Our name, "Yūshin," reflects a spirit that is both courageous and ever-developing — the same spirit we aim to cultivate in every student who steps onto our floor.
We teach authentic Japanese martial arts with a modern, community-centered approach. Our curriculum includes Inoue-ha Shitō-ryū Karate and Okinawa Kobudō Kenshin Ryū, taught with respect for lineage, precision in technique, and a commitment to personal growth. As members of ISKIA and USA-NKF, we connect our students to national and international standards while maintaining the close-knit feel of a local dojo.
Yūshin Dōjō exists for people of all backgrounds, ages, and life circumstances. We believe karate should be an outlet, a safe haven, and a place where students can breathe, grow, and belong. Our training environment is structured, disciplined, and supportive — designed to challenge the body, strengthen the mind, and build confidence through effort and courage.
We are a traditional martial arts school that recognizes change is inevitable — because that is the courage. Through that balance of tradition and evolution, Yūshin Dōjō is building a community where every student has a home, every practitioner has a path, and every act of effort becomes a step toward mastery.
Rei — courtesy in every bow and every action.
Yū — the driving spirit of our dojo.
Nin — steady effort, one class at a time.
Founder & Head Instructor · San-dan, Karate · Sho-dan, Okinawa Kobudō Kenshin Ryū
In 2004, Sensei Kenneth Jenkins began studying Hayashi-ha Shitō-ryū Kai Karate-dō, inspired by witnessing the courage and spirit of a childhood friend competing in a local tournament. That moment sparked a passion for traditional Japanese martial arts that has guided his life ever since.
After training through his youth and college years, Sensei Jenkins returned to full-time study in 2017 with a renewed desire for mastery. His foundation was shaped by multiple instructors who trained directly under Soke Teruo Hayashi, including Shihan Reed Noss of the respected Noss family of karate. Through both Nippon Hayashi-ha Shitō-ryū and later the International Hayashi-ha Shitō-ryū Federation (IHSKF), he developed strong fundamentals, deep kata appreciation, and respect for authentic tradition.
Yūshin Dōjō is proudly connected to Inoue-ha Shito-ryu Keishin-Kai through ISKIA, led by Kyoshi Julio Martinez, and is a member of USA-NKF, aligning the dojo with national and international standards. Sensei Jenkins holds San-dan (3rd degree black belt) in Karate and Sho-dan (1st degree black belt) in Okinawa Kobudō Kenshin Ryū.
Outside the dojo, Sensei Jenkins is deeply committed to service, leadership, and family. He works professionally in the financial sector, applying the same discipline, structure, and long-term strategy that define his teaching. He also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where he supports ministry operations, youth development, and community outreach. His children — Kellan, McKenna, and Delaney — train alongside him as students of Yūshin Dōjō, adding a personal and meaningful dimension to his role as both father and instructor.
As a teacher, he is firm, structured, and deeply supportive — demanding the best from every student while helping them discover their potential. He believes karate should be an outlet, a safe haven, and a place where people from all backgrounds can grow, belong, and feel fulfilled. His love for teaching youth and his commitment to lifelong learning shape the heart of Yūshin Dōjō.
At its core, Yūshin Dōjō stands on a simple truth:
